Help & support

TakoCards is a marketplace of independent sellers. Most problems are fastest to fix with the seller directly — and if that doesn't work, our team steps in.

Ask us anything — accounts, payments, shipping questions, or a listing that looks wrong.

Disputes

Something didn't arrive, arrived damaged, or isn't what was described? This is the route to a refund.

Common questions

Who am I actually buying from?

Independent sellers. TakoCards is a consumer-to-consumer marketplace: we run the platform, handle the payment and hold the seller's money until the order is settled, but the seller — not us — owns and ships the cards.

That's also why we don't inspect items before they ship unless a TakoInspect service has been bought for that item. See the terms of service.

What does buyer protection cover?

You may be eligible for a refund when:

  • the item never arrived within the estimated delivery window;
  • it is significantly not as described — wrong card, wrong condition, missing items;
  • it turns out to be counterfeit or not authentic;
  • it arrived damaged because the seller packed it inadequately;
  • the seller didn't ship within the agreed timeframe.

The full list, and what isn't covered, is in the refund policy.

How long do I have to raise a problem?

Start a refund request or dispute within 7 days of confirmed delivery, or within 30 days of purchase if delivery was never confirmed. After that window, requests are generally not accepted.

Read the exact wording in the refund policy.

Do I really need to film the unboxing?

For any claim about what was inside the package — missing items, the wrong card, transit damage — yes. The recording has to start before you open anything: film the sealed package from every side, then keep filming in one continuous, unedited take until everything is out and shown on camera. Photos taken afterwards can't replace it.

Without it, those claims can be declined, because there's no way to establish what the package contained when it arrived. Keep the original file until the dispute is closed. Full requirements: refund policy.

How does a dispute work?

Three steps:

  • Direct resolution — you and the seller talk it through in the dispute thread. They can offer you a full or partial refund, and you can counter with your own figure.
  • Escalation — if you can't agree, either side hands it to us. Both of you can submit evidence: photos, video, messages.
  • Platform arbitration — we review it and make a binding decision: full refund, partial refund, or the funds go to the seller.

The seller's payout is held for the whole time a dispute is open. Your disputes.

How are refunds paid back?

To your original payment method. How quickly it lands is up to your payment provider — typically 5–10 business days.

Refunds come in three shapes: a full refund of the purchase price, a partial refund (agreed with the seller, or decided by us), and an automatic shipping refund of the excess when a seller combines several of your orders into one parcel.

What about condition and grading?

Sellers are required to describe condition, authenticity and any defects accurately, and a significant mismatch is grounds for a dispute. Minor differences that fall within normal grading variance are not — grading is a judgement call, and two people can read the same card differently.

TakoInspect is our optional verification service. It's a professional, best-effort assessment, not a warranty or a guarantee of a grade. Details in the refund policy.

Something on the site looks like a scam. What do I do?

Report it. Every listing and seller page has a report link, which sends the details straight to our moderation team and opens a ticket you can follow. If money has already changed hands, open a dispute as well — reporting flags the account, but the dispute is what gets you refunded.

Keep the conversation on the platform: an offer to complete a deal elsewhere is worth reporting on its own.

What happens to my personal data?

What we collect, why, and what you can ask us to delete is set out in the privacy policy. Sellers only ever get the delivery details they need to send your parcel.
